The Indigenous Religion of Europe

Although one of the great strengths of Asatru is Freedom and Independence; in a global world, it is also a great threat to survival.
In 4 AD when the Germanic Tribes were under threat from Roman occupation, Hermann der Cherusker lead a coalition between independent German tribes over a period of over a decade to defeat over 120,000 Roman Legionaries.
As one of the Heroes of Nordic Folklore, Hermann is the inspiration behind the Asatru Einherjar, who are a modern incarnation of the fallen heroes of this heroic period.
Asatru is not a centralised Religion, indeed its principles of Freedom of Will and individual accountability ensure coded forms of centralised power will never rise to shackle us.
Yet Asatru is rooted in family, heritage, honouring cultural values and protecting of our Nordic Rites. In a world with competing interests and rising complexities, small minority entities struggle to survive. In Asatru, our thousands of Kindreds need to unite once again, in the manner of our forebears some 2000 years ago to protect our values, ethnicity and holy religion.
Administered by the Glathsheim Council under the charge of Asatru Einherjar (AE) founder Gothi Henning A. Klovekorn, the AE is a global register of all Asatru Kindreds. Individual adherants of the Asatru Religion register as AE members or 'Asatru Einherjar' to support the principles of Asatru under a united front, without surrendering the independence of their own kindreds.
In 2008 over 1000 Asatru Einherjar have registered, register today by joining.
